 Law Firm Overview

Islam and Associates was established in 1997 by the Principal of the office Mr. Mufassil MM Islam. The firm started as a small law office specialising in Immigration and civil matters. The firm grew in time and became the forerunner in genuine Immigration practice in Bangladesh. There are many Immigration consultants in Bangladesh who are in practice claiming to be ex-embassy staffs and clients fall trap to their lucrative and flashy advertisements. But as Immigration is a very complicated and complex field of law and as per the law of the land, anybody who is not a lawyer cannot advise clients in legal matters, these consultants are definitely and clearly in violation of Bar Council regulations. There are also tendencies to bring lawyers from abroad in pursuit of potential clients by arranging seminars and direct assessments for which the clients do often pay huge sums. But foreign lawyers should not and may not advise people of our country as that will be in violation of Bar rules of Bangladesh. Foreign lawyers may advise only the lawyers of Bangladesh who in turn may advise our citizens accordingly. Foreign lawyers may not advise and may not come to Bangladesh without due work-permit or business permit. Time has come for truly trained lawyers to assist clients in Immigration matters. Our firm boasts in having staffs trained abroad in related fields of law which include trainings from recognised institutions and practical experiences from leading foreign and native law offices. Experiences in working embassies cannot be the criteria of working in Immigration matters as embassies do not work with complicated and complex appeal and application issues, rather law offices work in conjunction with Home Offices or Immigration Departments.

The firm has a lineage of lawyers dating back many years. Advocate Mumtaz Uddin Ahmed, great-grand-father of Mr. Mufassil M M Islam was a leading civil lawyer among the Muslim community of East Bengal during the early 1930s and 1940s. Advocate K M Sadequr Rahman, grandfather of Mr. Islam was a leading corporate practitioner of East Pakistan who established Highspeed Navigation Company, the largest shipping company in the country. Advocate Nazrul Islam, father of Mr. Mufassil Islam stood first in his law exams and earned prominence in law related publications including 'Law of Evidence'. Mr. Nazrul Islam was also a lecturer at Central Law College, the leading law college in Bangladesh.

Mr. Mufassil Islam had his LL.B. (Hons) and LL.M degrees from Dhaka University, the most prestigious university in Bangladesh and had innumerable trainings from recognised institutions from around the world which include trainings from Harvard University in Internet Law and trainings on Immigration matters from Central Law Training in England. Mr. Islam also received certificate from Kensington University in USA. Mr. Islam has long experience of working as an Immigration Caseworker and a Consultant in USA and UK. His experiences include working for Neil Weinrib, PC, the leading law office in Immigration matters in USA as a Foreign Law Consultant and working for Ashley Bean & Co Solicitors in England.

Our firm works with syndicate of lawyers working for leading law offices around the world and we have gained trust and prestige among our clientele. We believe in honest, sincere and fast remedies for our clients and believe in growth with our clients' successes.
